Indulging in the flesh goes beyond what we seem to automatically correspond with: sexual desires, lust. Indulging in the flesh can expand to areas such as selfishness, hatred, anger expressed in harmful ways, etc.
In this world, we are introduced to hate in many forms. It is expressed is ways that bring forth the worst types of harm to others; but even to ourselves. It hardens our hearts, blinds our eyes, and coerces our minds. It conspires things that devour up others and destroys each of us, little by little. Sometimes we think that anger releases hate and gets it off of our chest, ultimately releasing us from the burden that angered us to begin with. That’s not so. When we allow hate and anger to consume us, even for a moment, they start to become us. It will manifest in ways we don’t even take notice to. We start to excuse the actions brought on in our anger by even blaming others sometimes. And don’t get me wrong, I know people can do some downright wrong things, but we have to remember to give it to God so we can have peace. The peace in knowing and trusting that our Heavenly Father will handle every situation according to his very plan.
Through Christ, we can be set free from the flesh. Set free from the destroyer. Set free from the manipulator. Set free from the devourer. Set free, with Christ, by Christ, for us, because he loves us.
LOVE. 🥰 And as he loves us, we are to love one another. Love another by praying for that person rather than seeking harm for that person. Love another by praying for Christ to live and work through your heart to shape you. Love another by praying for understanding and guidance through hard times. Turning to prayer instead of spewing hate and anger.
Pray. 🙏
“You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.”
Galatians 5:13-15 NIV
