Bible Study Devotional

Updated: Jan 5, 2022

While sitting in personal study with the Lord, He reminded me of something through reading in Deuteronomy chapter seven. I wanted to share my notes.

Deuteronomy 7:16-26= Read and pray; after reflect on what is said next and pray over it.

V21-23: Demons occupy space within our bodies, but little by little the Lord delivers us by destroying them and sending them into confusion. Over and over the Lord shows us how He sends the enemy into confusion and destruction comes upon suddenly and swiftly.

-God delivers little by little because He knows that the battle would be too strong for us and confuse us. He needs us to see and learn so we don‘t welcome more beasts into the camp (body/temple).

-Just as Jesus tells us, they’ll come back with those stronger and more in number when the space is not occupied. (Matthew 12:43-45)

V24-26: All idols will be destroyed, leaving no room for them to return and act as a snare; completely renouncing and removing them, sending them to the abyss.

If it was taken away all at once, we might not see the true importance of what was done in the sanctification and cleansing. It would ultimately end with us losing sight of what God did and in the end, potentially going right back to what we were delivered from to begin with.

When it is little by little, we seem to cling to Him more and see more clearly, not taking things for granted.

One thing we could ask ourselves, “do we fear the demons or do we fear God? Whom do we trust to hold the power?”

I pray this meets you well and the Lord brings to light what it was He taught me, to you. I seemed to lose sight of this very thing and He reminded me of the power and truth behind these scriptures.

Scripture Reference:

1. “You shall consume all the peoples whom the Lord your God will deliver to you; your eye shall not pity them, nor shall you serve their gods, for that would be a snare to you. “If you should say in your heart, ‘These nations are greater than I; how can I dispossess them?’ you shall not be afraid of them; you shall well remember what the Lord your God did to Pharaoh and to all Egypt: the great trials which your eyes saw and the signs and the wonders and the mighty hand and the outstretched arm by which the Lord your God brought you out. So shall the Lord your God do to all the peoples of whom you are afraid. Moreover, the Lord your God will send the hornet against them, until those who are left and hide themselves from you perish. You shall not dread them, for the Lord your God is in your midst, a great and awesome God. The Lord your God will clear away these nations before you little by little; you will not be able to put an end to them quickly, for the wild beasts would grow too numerous for you. But the Lord your God will deliver them before you, and will throw them into great confusion until they are destroyed. He will deliver their kings into your hand so that you will make their name perish from under heaven; no man will be able to stand before you until you have destroyed them. The graven images of their gods you are to burn with fire; you shall not covet the silver or the gold that is on them, nor take it for yourselves, or you will be snared by it, for it is an abomination to the Lord your God. You shall not bring an abomination into your house, and like it come under the ban; you shall utterly detest it and you shall utterly abhor it, for it is something banned.”

‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭7:16-26‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

2. ““Now when the unclean spirit goes out of a man, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, and does not find it. Then it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came’; and when it comes, it finds it unoccupied, swept, and put in order. Then it goes and takes along with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there; and the last state of that man becomes worse than the first. That is the way it will also be with this evil generation.””

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭12:43-45‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬
